CATALYST ANNOUNCES ENTRY INTO RAPIDLY GROWING STORAGE-NETWORKING TEST MARKET
Company Leverages Success in Array of Bus Architectures; Storage-Networking Interface Test Market more than $100MSAN JOSE, Calif. – May 19, 2004 - Catalyst Enterprises, Inc. a leading manufacturer of development tools for a broad range of serial and parallel bus technologies, today announced a major expansion in its strategic focus. The company is entering the storage-networking interface test market, which researchers estimate to be more than $100 million, with a line of protocol analyzers, exercisers and emulators for system manufacturers worldwide. Additionally, the company announced that it is planning to introduce a line of new Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and Serial ATA (SAS) products in the coming weeks.
With its entry into the storage-networking test market, Catalyst is leveraging its success in development tools for leading interfaces, including PCI, PCI-X, PCI Express, USB, and USB 2.0. The company provides the industry’s most-comprehensive line of analyzer, exerciser and emulator solutions for these interfaces.
“Catalyst has a history of successfully identifying and making timely entries into new markets as they emerge and their technologies evolve,” said Nader Saleh, founder and president of Catalyst. “We view the storage-networking test market as one of tremendous potential for continued growth and also a logical extension of our success and expertise in a range of interface technologies. We also feel the market will benefit greatly from our strength in high-performance, cost-effective portable test equipment.”
To augment its efforts in this market and share its expertise with other industry leaders, Catalyst has joined the SCSI Trade Association to help develop market requirements for SAS and SATA. Catalyst also will participate in standards-development bodies and draw on its considerable experience in testing communication protocols, thus ensuring new products conform to the latest standards. Additionally, Catalyst participates in a number of compliance-testing events, including the compliance workshop at the University of New Hampshire in June.
Catalyst provides its analyzer, exerciser and emulator products to global customers that include hardware and software engineers, technicians, manufacturing engineers, and test engineers involved in design, troubleshooting, verification and standards compliance. Catalyst’s large and diverse customer base includes some of the best-known manufacturers in computing, test equipment, communications, aerospace, defense, and government research.
