Catalyst Enterprises Now Shipping PCI Express Exerciser and Analyzer
San Jose, CA, August 18, 2003 - Catalyst Enterprises, a leading manufacturer of development tools for PCI-X, USB 2.0 and other serial and parallel bus technologies, today announced production shipments of their new PCI Express Exerciser and Analyzer, as part of Catalyst’s PCI Express Development Tool Solution offerings.
Initial recipients of Catalyst’s SPX systems include major chipset manufacturers who are using the Catalyst design to characterize and verify their PCI Express 1.0 and 1.0a designs now reaching production. Other early PCI Express adopters include various server, graphics and add-in card vendors who are using the high throughput and unique architecture of PCI Express to increase the efficiency of their designs.
Initial shipments include the Catalyst SPX-4E Exerciser for 4x PCI Express requirements. For early adaptors, the Catalyst SPX Exerciser supports PCI Express Specifications 1.0 as well as 1.0a. The Exerciser can accommodate pattern generation mode and real mode. Pattern generation mode allows users to program packets and fields down to the Physical and Data Link layers. For more advanced stages of development, SPX Exerciser supports Real Agent Mode in which the Physical and Data Link Layer protocols are automatically managed by the Exerciser hardware, allowing the user to focus on the Transaction Layer exclusively.
Also shipping as part of the Catalyst’s PCI Express Development Tool Solution is the Catalyst SPX-4A Bus & Protocol Analyzer, which is a PCI Express serial bus Analyzer designed to be an optimal bus analysis tool for a wide range of PCI Express applications. The SPX Analyzer is a powerful hardware engine that enables flexible capture and trigger of Transaction Layer, Data Link Layer Packets, Physical Layer Ordered Sets and all bus conditions while maintaining an easy-to-use interface.
“As part of our PCI Express Development Tool Solutions, we are very pleased to offer our Exerciser and Analyzer systems for shipment very early in the PCI Express design cycle”, said Varin Singh, Sales & Marketing Director of Catalyst Enterprises. “We believe our products provide a mature and complete set of development tools that cannot be found in any other available tools”.
“With the industry on track for delivery of PCI Express enabled solutions across desktop, mobile, server, and communications platforms starting in 2004, tool availability is critical.” said Bala Cadambi, PCI Express initiative manager for Intel. “We are glad to see Catalyst among the growing number of validation tools suppliers as the industry prepares for the launch of interoperable products..”
Catalyst’s SPX PCI Express development systems are available in multiple configurations supporting various lane widths of PCI Express. For complete details, contact Catalyst Enterprises at www.getcatalyst.com or by phone (408) 365-3846.
