Catalyst Expands PCI Express™ Test & Development Capabilities

New Exerciser for PCI Express x8 and x16 Lane Configuration Designs

San Jose, CA, February 17, 2004 - Catalyst Enterprises, Inc., a leading manufacturer of advanced design verification and test tools for PCI, PCI-X, USB 2.0, PCI Express, and other data bus technologies, today announced the addition of the SPX-8E and SPX-16E PCI Express Exerciser products to their SPX series of development products.

New capabilities provided by these products allow PCI Express developers to test, emulate and characterize their designs while approaching the maximum limits of the new PCI Express technology, and measure the performance and bottlenecks.

“The ability to fully test and characterize PCI Express implementations at x8 and x16 lane configurations will be a major advantage for those companies developing products which take advantage of the maximum bandwidth capabilities provided for by the PCI Express specification,” stated Nader Saleh, president of Catalyst Enterprises, Inc. “We are pleased to provide our customers with tools they need to allow them to accelerate the pace of technology development. The new release of SPX series have additional options and features to respond to the needs of our customers that must perform stress testing and extended performance measurement.”

Integrated PCI Express Stimulus and Monitoring Capabilities

The new SPX-8 and SPX-16 Exercisers include an ability to capture and display PCI Express traffic sent by the exerciser to a target device, and also traffic received from the target under test, thus providing the development community with a true all-in-one stimulus and capture package.

Providing Designers a Total Solution

Catalyst also manufactures the PXP-100 Development Platform (which allows users to perform testing on PCI Express devices using up to 16 lanes of traffic), a Mid-Bus Probe, and various PCI Express hardware adapters and extenders.

About PCI Express

PCI Express is a new serial I/O technology and is compatible with existing PCI software environments. This emerging serial data bus technology expected to dominate the desktop, laptop, and server markets by 2005. As such, there is significant demand for test and development tools that expedite development of these designs. For more information, contact the PCI Special Interest Group via www.pcisig.com.
