PLX TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES PCI EXPRESS COLLABORATION WITH CATALYST ENTERPRISESSUNNYVALE and SAN JOSE, Calif. - Jan 15, 2004 -- PLX Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLXT), the leading supplier of standard I/O interconnect silicon to the communications, server, storage and embedded-control industries, and Catalyst Enterprises, a leading manufacturer of development tools for PCI Express™ technology, PCI-X, USB 2.0 and other serial and parallel bus technologies, today announced a collaboration on developing technology to enhance PCI Express-based systems. The two companies are working to apply Catalyst's PCI Express Development Tools and debug solutions to the verification and validation of PLX® PCI Express silicon designs. By working together on the application and refinement of the Catalyst tools, PLX is moving forward rapidly toward the introduction of its first PCI Express silicon, scheduled for introduction this year. "PLX is committed to developing alliances with industry leaders in the design, development, test and application of PCI Express technology, and Catalyst serves as a strong example of this commitment," said Akber Kazmi, senior marketing manager at PLX. "By applying Catalyst PCI Express Exerciser and debug technology to our PCI Express development, both companies are advancing this interconnect standard and helping to accelerate the deployment of this technology in commercial systems" PLX has applied Catalyst's SPX-4 PCI Express Exerciser system for verification of its PCI Express bridging and switching silicon, which is being designed for a range of communications, server, storage and industrial-control systems. The SPX-4 is an advanced version of Catalyst's PCI Express Exerciser system, which optimizes the design process by acting as a PCI Express agent or host. By using the SPX-4 in its PCI Express development and providing feedback to Catalyst, PLX is helping refine and optimize the development tools both for PLX and other Catalyst customers. "Our collaboration with PLX on PCI Express is proving to be a benefit for both companies, as well as others who will be using the SPX-4," said Nader Saleh, president and chief executive officer at Catalyst. "We believe this will help bring powerful and proven PCI Express development tools to market sooner and in a much more optimized manner." PLX recently demonstrated a fully functional ATCA platform with an emulated version of the industry's first PCI Express switch and bridge devices.
