Catalyst Enterprises SBAE-30 USB Analyzer/Exerciser Now Supports USB-On-The-Go (USB-OTG) Dual Role Device Exercising

San Jose, CA, May 14, 2003 - Catalyst Enterprises, manufacturer of Analytical systems for USB and other serial and parallel bus technologies, today announced new capabilities available with their SBAE-30 USB Analyzer/Exerciser system. Catalyst’s SBAE-30 System now provides an optional USB-On-The-Go (USB-OTG) Dual-Role Device Exerciser to enhance its existing Analyzer and Exerciser functions./p>

The SBAE-30 enables Dual Role Device exercising that provides detailed, multi-role control of USB-OTG data communication between the SBAE-30 and any USB-OTG device. Capable of operating as both types of devices, “A” and “B”, the SBAE-30 can fully characterize and exercise all types of USB-OTG devices performing any type of USB-OTG communication.

The SBAE-30’s Dual Role Device Exerciser can function as both a device controller and as a host controller and provides complete support for Host Negotiation Protocol (HNP) and Session Request Protocol (SRP). SBAE-30 Dual Role Device Exerciser capabilities include:

  • The SBAE-30 senses the USB-OTG connection and automatically determines if the exerciser should start operating as an A Device or a B Device

  • When exercising as an A Device, the SBAE-30 can start the USB-OTG session manually or can wait for SRP from an attached B Device before initiating the VBus signal and then may continue to initiate HNP.

  • When exercising as a B Device, the SBAE-30 can support HNP or can disable HNP to emulate an SRP capable peripheral and can initiate SRP manually.

  • The SBAE-30 supports both methods (Data Line Pulse and VBus pulse) defined for recognizing SRP, and enables users to selectively activate either.

    • Catalyst’s SBAE-30 provides advanced Bus Analyzer/Exerciser capabilities for Low, Full and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 & USB 1.x, as well as analyzing and now exercising USB On-The-Go (USB-OTG), an extension of the USB 2.0 Specification. Featuring Catalyst’s dual-mode GUI control software and development utilities, the SBAE-30 provides unique hardware and software-based capabilities not available in any other development tools.

    The SBAE-30 is available in a variety of configurations. Modular option packages may be added upon purchase or in the field. Pricing starts at $8,900.00 and includes lifetime software updates and technical support.
