Catalyst Crossfire is Industry’s First Bi-Directional SAS Error Injector
San Jose, CA, January 9, 2006- Catalyst
Enterprises, Inc., a leading manufacturer of advanced design
verification and test tools for Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), Serial
ATA (SATA), PCI Express™, USB 2.0,
Wireless USB, Fibre Channel, and other high performance I/O
technologies, today announced the release
of its Crossfire™ inline error injection system for SAS. Crossfire
is the latest in SAS development products
provided by Catalyst, which also include the industry-leading STX
Series of SAS analyzers and emulation
tools.
“The only way to truly characterize error handling
and correction within a SAS system is to monitor both
directions simultaneously and then corrupt traffic in one direction
and/or the other,” stated Paul Mutschler,
director of storage products, Catalyst Enterprises. “The Crossfire
will be highly instrumental in helping
developers fully test and characterize system and device reaction to
non-standard behaviors.”
Crossfire Delivers Deep Feature Set, Complete Bi-Directional Monitoring and Control
Crossfire is a hardware-based, software-controlled
product that is physically inserted between
communicating SAS system components, such as expanders, initiators,
or targets (drives). Crossfire
enables on-the-fly, user-defined corruption or replacement of
inter-device SAS command, frame, and
primitive traffic for purposes of characterizing hardware and
software error handling behaviors. Features
include multi-level detection and corruption state machines,
batching of up to 200 test cases, external
triggers, and user control by means of an application programming
interface (API) or graphical user
interface (GUI), which supports conditional logic constructs (IF,
ELSE-IF) counters, and timers.
Availability
Crossfire is now shipping.
